Innocence - " A pure state of non - guilty unintended to harm " as described by a dictionary.
Is it just a literary term and noun worth cherishing over it's melodious pronounciation or a valuable inherent trait deserving someone's attention and praise or the mere cause for all the betrayal, the one posessing it is likely to be subjected to ???
Since ages innocence is a virtue synonymous with children or in other words - purity and simplicity of heart. Be it a sleeping baby, a playing kid, a bright youth, a feeding mother, a father teaching something to his child, or an 80 year old eating his/her food, regardless of age or profession innocence is inherent in all living beings. It is to be found in the eyes and soul of a person but is certainly a reflection of one's state of heart and mind. However, it's just the situation which reflects it may differ at times.
It is indeed a hard fact that while growing up in age, with sense and maturity stepping in our behaviour and lives we can never be so fearless. Having acquired the worldly knowledge, over a period of time we tend to grow conscious of our acts and thereby losing our innocence unlike our chilhood days full of innocent deeds.
Yet, that's only a partial loss most of us are unaware of !!! Some amount of innocence is still retained throughout our life, but gets a chance to resurface itself in one form or the other only in our sub-conscious state of self, when we are totally relaxed, free from all worries and pressures we enjoy a state of total ease and harmony with ourselves and our environment.
Vying with the complexities of life, people and harsh realities around, somewhere down the line, duality of our character sets in without any effort made from our side. One is our outer self ( the outer crust or the wiser self ) - That which reflects and represents our intellect and wisdom to counter the situations of the world around, the other part being our simple in innermost self -our purest and sub-conscious state called INNOCENCE !!!
Innocence has a share of vices too. For being too innocent, one is at the risk of being taken for granted by all those cruel and cunning beings as the innocent is likely to be unaware of his own rights. For those who prefer to oppress and dominate others with their cunning or calculative moves or through the threat of their power and are guilty of suppressing their own lack of confidence by such practices - " Innocence " For them is regarded as a trait of one's weakness ( a person's inability to realise anything and take action against wrong. )
As one advances in age, possesing this trait is often taken as a taboo by the society. Power and fear from power are the only two threats to innocence. For the sake of one's survival in the world, one is at times forced to suppress oneself, forego one's individuality and even forsake certain valuable virtues.
In the midst of mechanical lives we humans are now forced to live, Superficiality has indeed taken over our most innocent selves. Man has infact become a social slave.Conciousness and awareness are the only things that dont' let out this trait of our's, as freely as it should. Thus, loosing ourselves completely and fearlessly with the flow of the times is the only key to retain it... ( however the most easy to suggest N most difficult 2 practise )
